A little while back, an elegant-looking elderly lady got up with her husband to board the plane. As she began to walk away, I noticed a chapter book was left in the spot she was sitting. Immediately, I called to the lady: Excuse me Miss, you forgot your book! She turned around and smiled, her eyes lit up, “ I didn’t forget it, I’m leaving it.” And with that she turned around with her head high smiling and held her hubby’s arm and went on her way, without looking back. Just as quick as I called her, I picked up the book. Reading the title and plot, it certainly wasn’t my usual choice; fiction first off- which I hardly ever choose. But something just told me I was meant to read it; whatever it was. I had just spent the last hour puking on the plane and felt awful; howveer, I couldn’t help but melt at the old book smell- if you know you know. Some things have to be experienced to be appreciated, and I’m grateful for that woman for sharing her experience.
This reminded me of when I sometimes leave encouraging stickers in random places- no I’m not a litter bug ha so I leave them in public seating places. I’ve never stayed to watch a reaction but I hope it makes someone smile- that lady confirmed that.
