“I cant sleep because of nightmares”

“Lets try praying to God.”

“But what if he isn’t listening to me?”

“Well you have to have faith and pray for him to listen to you. If you really believe and trust in him, he will protect you in all things.”

I then encouraged her to make a mantra that fit well. After throwing around some combinations, we chose: God is stronger than my nightmares.

I would encourage others to find a verse that resonates. These verses are too long for most kids to remember at her age, or understand the meaning, but these are some verses I would give to her to remember:

Matthew 21:22 Jesus said, whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive if you have faith

Mark 11: 24 Jesus said, whatever you ask in prayer, believe you have received it

Mark 9: 23 Jesus said, everything is possible to the one who believes
