This weekend, a friend and I went to see the new “It ends with us” movie. I am the worst person to go to the movies with usually, because I am a: sleep-through-the-whole-movie kind of movie goer. I have been a fan of Blake lively since she was in the Sisterhood of the Traveling pants movie, from when I was in grade school. But like many others, I was dissapointed in how Blake presented her character outside of the movie in the press (ie. not highlighting the purpose- DV in interviews). However, it is hard to distinguish if the drama surrounding the movie was the fault of Blake or Justin.
Nonethless, the movie itself is inarguably impactful.
That movie hit me harder than I thought it would. About 2 years ago, there was a project on Domestic violence- I submitted one of my pieces. I didn’t share about it, but it was hung in the Kirschner family art gallery for the exhibit.
Art allows one to communicate and feel things in a way that no one else may understand or that I dont feel I can share out loud. I hope my piece brought comfort to someone else walking down the gallery.
Art caption: Take off the mask and look in the mirror, you deserve to be yourself, without living in fear. No more silence, end Domestic Violence.
